Sandra Garcia is a creative director and designer based in New York City. She is currently the creative director of HuffPost Highline, the website's long-form vertical. Prior to Highline, she freelanced at ESPN's FiveThirtyEight.com, TheUndefeated.com and at New York Magazine.
From 2011-2014 Sandra was the Design Director at Travel+Leisure magazine, where she was responsible for the brand's design and visual voice. In 2012 she oversaw a major redesign of the print publication with Luke Hayman at Pentagram. Travel + Leisure was recognized by Society of Publication Designers for design and photography in 2012, 2013, 2014; AI/AP for photography in 2013 and 2014.
Sandra has also been the Art Director at Budget Travel, an Associate Art Director at Culture&Travel and Associate Art Director at Travel+Leisure. She has additionally freelanced at Latina, Food&Wine and Art+Auction, interned at Teen Vogue and Visionaire, worked on a prototype for an art magazine at Conde Nast, and designed book jackets for Gabriele Wilson Design.
Before going back to school at Parsons, she was a reporter and editor at trade publications covering the advertising industry. She contributed articles to AdAge's Creativity, Print magazine and The International Herald Tribune.
Sandra holds a B.A. in English Literature from The University of Connecticut and a degree in Graphic Design from Parsons The New School for Design.
